At the helm: Simon Mohapi

Well-known and highly regarded in the field of financial services with 28 years of experience, Managing Director, Simon Mohapi was appointed as a Financial Advisor by Standard Bank Assurance Brokers (SBAB) where he consistently provided outstanding client services and was awarded amongst others, honorary membership to the select Standard Bank Fund Managers Executive Brokers Club in 1990. He was also rewarded with merit awards including trips to Monte Carlo, Paris, Italy, London and Zimbabwe in appreciative recognition of the prowess shown in attaining investment and financial advisory services. He is the current Chairman and Independent Trustee of the Assupol Carefree Life Retirement Annuity Fund, Council member of the North West University where he serves on its Assets, Finance and Investment Committees. He is also a Non-Executive Director of Cornerstone Brokers. In what has undoubtedly been a highly successful career, he was also an Equity Advisor with the predecessor of today’s HSBC (Simpson McKie Stockbrokers) where he advised on the workings of the stock market and held seminars and workshops around the country. He has written numerous investment articles on the dynamics of the Stock Market for the SOWETAN Newspaper under the auspices of Nation Building.

He was also a director at Alexander Forbes Asset Consulting. He was a facilitator for the Graduate Institute of Management and Technology (GIMT) in Basic Economics, Customer Relations Management and Investment Management. Simon has previously presented the market update on MOTSWEDING FM and continues to do so on LESEDI FM since 1997. He is a qualified Assessor and Facilitator with (ETDP SETA), holds a Diploma in Investment Management (RAU) and a Certificate of Proficiency (COP) (Planning and Administration of Estates). He also has a Graduate Diploma in Company Direction (NQF7) with special reference to Corporate Governance, Strategic Management, Risk Management, Financial Markets and Financial Management via the Institute of Directors (IOD) in collaboration with the Graduate Institute of Management and Technology (GIMT). He is an Associate Financial Planner (AFP) with the Financial Planning Institute (FPI).

 

Neo Kgantsho Mohapi

Career:

10 years of experience as a developer of learning materials and a specialist in Consumer Education. She facilitates in Accounting for the Grade12 learners at NOMSA Secondary School in Deneysville (FS) on ad hoc basis. Neo has worked as a volunteer for the South African Youth Chamber of Commerce in Pretoria as a facilitator for SMMEs. She also facilitates in various business, finance and investment management conferences hosted by S.M. Mohapi Financial Services around the country.
